By your side Plan in Taiwan

Due to their remote locations, indigenous tribes in Taiwan face significant disparities in education resources compared to urban areas. Coupled with the uneven distribution of educational resources and high turnover rates of teachers, children in these areas often lag behind in development. As well, some face mental and physical health challenges due to various factors, such as family structure and/or the care they are given. Furthermore, cultural differences and lack of attention on the part of society and government lead to difficulties in timely intervention by authorities, thus hindering children's learning abilities, willingness to learn, and academic achievements.
In response, since 2006, our foundation has launched this service plan, collaborating with schools and communities at all levels in the service areas. Through partnerships with professional teachers, we provide sustained support of “software” resources in rural schools, integrating cultural heritage and practices to offer children professional companionship and support needed at different stages of their development, enabling them to learn in a stable environment.
We start by respecting the needs of children and discovering their strengths, guiding them to understand and embrace their own value. In an environment of dignity and equality, they can face future challenges with confidence and hope. This aims to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of "No Poverty," "Zero Hunger," "Good Health and Well-being," "Quality Education," "Gender Equality," and "Reduced Inequalities."
How Donations Are Utilized:
- From prenatal care to adulthood, we provide support every step of the way. We assist pregnant indigenous women from prenatal check-ups to home visits, offer parental guidance and developmental assessments, provide caregiver parenting guidance and family parenting courses to improve parenting concepts and methods. Additionally, we provide mobile/stationary resource services, offer educational toys and picture book lending, provide parenting consultations, organize parent-child activities and parenting seminars, and promote reading together. We aim to ensure that every child grows up in peace and every caregiver can face life’s challenges without worry.
- Promotion and Facilitation of Cultural Heritage. Through collaboration with local cultural teachers, we integrate daily Atayal cultural activities into kindergarten curricula in both rural and urban areas, enhancing children's awareness of local cultural life. In the adolescent stage, we cooperate with schools to promote ethnic education courses, creating a smooth path for children to build their cultural identity and engage in dialogue between tradition and modernity.
- Supporting Teachers in Remote Areas. Integrating diverse resource services, we provide indigenous children with richer learning experiences, including opportunities in arts, native languages, dance, choir, and sports, helping children unleash their potential and boost their confidence. We also provide better individual guidance and comprehensive support for children with special needs, stabilizing and strengthening their learning foundations.
- Youth Companionship. Through social work visits and careful care, we provide supplements to counseling and introduce diverse teaching resources, organizing courses/career exploration, youth camps, and diverse clubs to address and support the academic and emotional needs of young people. We also provide support systems for students who cannot function normally in their families, including living and learning spaces and support for education/employment, enhancing their daily life independence and interpersonal relationship development, thus improving their social adaptability.
