Zhi-Shan supports the 3 plans to help Children in Vietnam grow up safer and healthier.
- Zhi-Shan Foundation initiated the "Medical Treatment and Correction Program" in central Vietnam in 2000. The project provides free surgery for children under the age of eighteen who have physical or limb abnormalities due to congenital conditions or accidents. The stipulations are that they have not received other medical assistance, come from impoverished families, and can regain their function through surgery.
- In 2008, Zhi-Shan initiated a program to promote reading in Quảng Điền in the rural district of Thừa Thiên Huế province to help children in Vietnam absorb new knowledge, develop skills and confidence through reading, and broaden their horizons to pursue and achieve their dreams. The Reading Plan includes the establishment of friendly reading rooms, providing boxes of books and various reading materials, training “reading program seed teachers”, distributing reading record booklets, and organizing award ceremonies for children.
- Starting from 2022, Zhi-Shan has been redirecting resources originally allocated for building early childhood care centers towards establishing toy libraries. Each toy library can serve around 300 children, enabling children to learn and grow through play, safeguarding their right to play and develop.
How Donations Are Utilized:
The funds raised for Growing up with you in Vietnam will be mainly used for the below 3 areas
- For children who require surgical treatment we provide:
- Free surgical treatment.
- Subsidy for transportation and living allowance during hospitalization
- Nutrition and daily necessities
- Postoperative follow-up and rehabilitation.
- For children in need of rehabilitation treatment we:
- Create Children's Rehabilitation and Development Toys Centers
- Provide physical therapy, functional therapy, language therapy, and more for children through toys and games.
- Construction of reading rooms within schools.
- Providing reading materials for school classroom bookshelves.
- Assistance in organizing various reading activities at schools.
- Promoting literacy curriculum and teaching plans to guide students in reading methods.
- Organization of reading training courses for teachers.
- Development for Early Childhood care:
- Establishing toy libraries to create diverse play spaces
- Nutritional Supplements: Subsidizing nutritious lunches to allow parents to work with peace of mind and ensure children have enough to eat for healthy growth.
- Teaching Facilities: Providing teacher subsidies and conducting teacher training to bring suitable teaching methods to children.
